A new video game for the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset allows players to recreate the famous lightsaber training techniques shown in the Star Wars franchise.
Star Wars fans can now hone-in their lightsaber skills using the Oculus Rift headset and a special handheld companion device.
After strapping on the headset, players will see a virtual room and a lightsaber positioned where the handheld device is located in the real world. After picking up the device, the player can then practice deflecting laser beams, which are shot towards the player from a virtual hovering robot.
From the provided demo video, the accuracy and responsiveness of the whole setup seems decent, but it’s impossible to know exactly how it handles without giving it a try. Still, for a demo, it is quite impressive and goes a long way towards shining a light on where virtual reality gaming technology may be headed in the coming years.
